  3. Use the following command line:

Backup-SPSite http://URLofSiteCollection -Path C:\Backup\backup.bak

Note Replace "URLofSiteCollection" with the URL of your own site collection.

  2. Direct to the path of where the install file is located

  3. Run the install script to start the update

Note User must be Site Collection Administrator.

Tip During the update process, not much logging in Powershell can be seen.

The logging during the update can be found in SharePoint's own ULS logs.

Use ULS Viewer (download from Microsoft) to view the logging in real-time.

Important update messages can be filtered via the following:

“Category contains WSP”

When all UCC sites report the latest version, the update has been successful. If some sites show a warning with an earlier version, then run the PowerShell installer using activate mode.

When you need to run the activation manually please look at our FAQ to find the required commands.

Rollback SharePoint

Simply install the previous template by following the steps above, only this time using the old install files. Make sure the old solution is Deployed on the server.

  1. Open SharePoint 2010 / 2013 Management Shell as “Administrator”.

  2. Type in the following command line and hit enter:

Restore-SPSite http://URLofSiteCollection/ -Path C:\Backup\backup.bak -force -DatabaseServer databaseserver -DatabaseName databasename -confirm:$false

Note This overwrites all data from the given site collection

Tip DatabaseName and Server can be found in Central Admin

The old situation is now recovered.
